Overture Site Match™
Frequently
Asked Questions
What is Site Match?
Site
Match, Overture's paid inclusion product, offers
a very simple yet effective method for online businesses
to be considered for inclusion in the main body
of search results pages on multiple portals. By
subscribing to Site Match, your Web pages are reviewed
for quality and submitted to a database that provides
search results to Yahoo!, AltaVista,
AlltheWeb and others. Your listings will be
included in relevant search results, providing
your business with a source of targeted customer
leads.
What
are the benefits of using Site Match?
Site
Match offers many benefits, including:
- Rapid submission and minimal
account management, saving you valuable time.
- Increased exposure to nearly
80 percent of active Internet users through a single
point of submission into the search engine that
powers Yahoo!, AltaVista, AlltheWeb,
and others.
- Frequently refreshed content,
ensuring that your most up-to-date pages are included
in search results.
- Reporting to track and
optimize performance.
- High return on investment
(ROI) with a low annual subscription fee and fixed
cost-per-click pricing model.
How does Site Match work?
Here is how
the Site Match program works to drive targeted leads
to your business:
- You
begin by deciding which pages from your Web site
you would like to submit to be included in search
results across the Site Match partner network.
The more URLs you submit, the greater the potential
for receiving targeted customer leads.
- Your
URLs are reviewed for quality. Approved
URLs are then included in the search index
(database) that powers Site Match partner sites.
- When
Internet users visit Site Match partner sites
and enter search terms determined to be relevant
to the content on your submitted pages, your listings
will appear within search results.
- Your content
is kept up-to-date by frequent refreshes, typically
every 48 hours, to ensure that your customers
view the latest offerings on your Web site.
- Once
your URLs are in the search index, you are
not required to do any further account management
other than viewing your reporting data to understand
how well your account is performing.
Where
are my listings displayed with Site Match?
Site
Match listings are displayed within the main body
of search results pages. To
see an example, view the Site Match Example page.
Should
I use Site Match if I also use Pay-for-Performance
Search?
Yes. Using both Site Match
and Pay-for-Performance Search will maximize
your coverage on the search results page, enabling
you to receive more customer leads. And
because both Site Match and Pay-for-Performance
Search are billed to you on a cost-per-click
basis, you pay only when a potential customer
visits your Web site. (Please
note that Site Match subscribers also pay an
annual subscription fee to cover ongoing review
and frequent refreshes of their Web pages).
How
much does it cost to use Site Match?
Site
Match subscribers who submit fewer than 1,000
URLs pay an annual review fee, which breaks down
as follows:
First URL: $49
URLs 2-10: $29
each
URLs 11-999: $10 each
(Pricing tiers
are based on the number of URLs per domain/host.)
$50
Deposit per domain
Subscribers
then pay a fixed cost-per-click when a potential
customer clicks on one of their listings (URLs).
The fee is either .15 cents or .30 cents, depending
upon the URL's content category:

*Notice: Overture
is no longer accepting Gambling or Pharmaceutical web
sites for inclusion in Site Match. No refunds will
be permitted for Gambling or Pharmaceutical sites that
pay for editorial review and are rejected.
For businesses that submit 1,000 URLs or more, Overture
offers the Site
Match Xchange program at no annual
fee and a fixed cost-per-click that depends on content
category.
How do I sign up for Site Match?
To
sign up for Site Match, visit the Site
Match Sign-Up Page.
What does Site Match mean if I am
currently a customer of the Inktomi Search Submit,
AltaVista Express Inclusion, and/or FAST Partner
Site PFI paid inclusion programs?
Each
of these "legacy" programs is frozen
now that Site Match has launched. If legacy customers
do not choose to migrate into the Site Match program,
they may remain in the legacy programs until their
current subscriptions expire. No additions or changes
are allowed to URLs in legacy programs, but customers
may permanently remove URLs.
What happens if my URL(s) is rejected
during Editorial Review?
If the URL(s) your submitted is rejected by Overture, the slot for that URL is
closed and you are not able to get a refund for the Editorial fees associated
with that URL. In addition, you are not able to edit the URL to replace it with
another, as that URL slot is now closed. Any additional URLs that you would like
to have reviewed must each pay for and pass Editorial Review.
If my URL(s) are rejected, will Overture tell me why my pages did not pass Editorial
Review?
No, Overture does not share this information with anyone including resellers. This
allows Overture to protect the editorial quality of the Yahoo! Search index.
You can read Overture's complete Editorial
Guidelines here.
